The January 2025 wildfires left behind unprecedented destruction in Los Angeles, burning more than 16,000 structures and 40,000 acres of land, displacing thousands, and placing immense strain on the region's housing market, infrastructure, and economy. To guide the recovery, ULI, in partnership with the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate and the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, has released essential resources that align community needs with expert strategies.
Our Project Recovery initiative offers eight actionable recommendations‚ ranging from debris removal and permitting reform to financing tools and resilient design‚ supported by survey findings that reflect homeowners‚ intent to rebuild, urgent timelines, financing gaps, and resilience priorities.

A coalition of approximately 100 leading experts from ULI Los Angeles, UCLA, and USC provides strategic recovery solutions for Los Angeles following the January 2025 wildfires. The report offers actionable recommendations to help communities rebuild efficiently, equitably, and with greater resilience against future disasters.
This anonymous survey gathers insights on residents, and business owners, rebuilding plans to help officials prioritize recovery efforts. Results will guide cost-effective, timely solutions to address challenges and support rebuilding after the fires.
